San Diego Inland Love on A Leash  is a chapter of the national Foundation for Pet Provided Therapy which is a 501(c)(3) charity recognized by the IRS, providing services to San Diego County.

Our organization is comprised of teams of handlers and their pets who volunteer their time and love to members of our community:

  • Hospitals, hospices, emergency areas and homes to comfort those in need;
  • Senior health centers, assisted living centers, adult day care centers, Alzheimer facilities and homes to provide companionship and encouragement;
  • Schools and libraries to encourage and promote reading programs. and education on proper pet care and handling; and
  • Assistance in therapy training, evaluation and certification,  matching pets and their people with service opportunities.


Mission Statement:

  • Increase public awareness of the benefits of pets assisted therapy;
  • Provide education to organizations and individuals in our community on the value of pet-provided therapy also known as Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT);
  • Provide training, evaluation, certification and support for pets and their handlers performing Animal Assisted Activities (AAA); and
  • Support the standards of Love on a Leash, The foundation for Pet Provided Therapy.
