San Diego Inland Love on A Leash  is a chapter of the national Foundation for Pet Provided Therapy which is a 501(c)(3) charity recognized by the IRS, providing services to the north county inland San Diego area, including Poway and Escondido.   

Our organization is comprised of teams of handlers and their pets who volunteer their time and love to members of our community:

  • To those struck by tragedy, we provide visits to hospitals, hospices, emergency areas and homes to comfort those affected;
  • To seniors, we provide visits to health centers, assisted living centers, adult day care centers, Alzheimer facilities and homes to provide companionship through regular visits;
  • To children, we provide visits to schools and libraries to encourage and promote improved reading skills. and education on proper pet care and handling; and
  • To people with pets, we provide assistance in therapy training, evaluation and certification, and assistance in matching them with the right service opportunities.


Mission Statement:

  • Increase public awareness of the benefits of pets assisted therapy;
  • Provide education to organizations and individuals in our community on the value of pet-provided therapy also known as Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT);
  • Provide training, evaluation, certification and support for pets and their handlers performing Animal Assisted Activities (AAA); and
  • Strive to meet the standards of Love on a Leash, The foundation for Pet Provided Therapy.
